A movie house opened on this corner of Woodward in 1915. The sign out front has been the landmark ever since, through every name the building has worn.

IThe House

The Norwood opened in 1915, a neighborhood movie house on Woodward Avenue. It has changed hands and changed names. The sign has not moved.

The decades after

The titles on the marquee changed. The sign did not.

For a hundred years this room turned the lights down and became somewhere else. We needed a room that could still do that.
